Exercising is part and parcel of a healthy weight loss.
Even if weight loss may not be your goal just to maintain your overall health, exercising is important. The benefits it offers in that regard cannot be overlooked. Whatever your fitness/health goal at the end of the day may be, you will only be able to reach if you actually stick to whatever you are doing.
And the number one reason why so many people find it difficult to be consistent with their workout habits is because they are following a routine which they find it more of a chore than anything else.
And naturally, nobody likes doing a chore over and over again. So if you are wondering “what workout is best for me?” we have compiled a list of things you need to keep in mind.
1: Have a Look at Your Goals:
One of the first things you need to do which would help you select the right workout plan for yourself is to have a look at your fitness goals. Do you wish to gain muscle or are your goals leaning more towards overall weight loss? Perhaps, it’s both these things? Maybe your goal is to build endurance for that upcoming marathon?
The thing with workout plans is that all of them help you meet a different goal so it makes sense why this should be the first thing your need to be looking at.
2: Your Schedule/ Daily Routine:
How much time does your daily routine allow you to commit to your fitness needs? If you cannot manage 45 minutes on a daily basis where you get busy lifting weights etc. then maybe you should be opting for something shorter but still effective. Look into interval training; you will be surprised what you can get from working out just 20 minutes a day!
3: Take Your Body Type into Consideration:
Another thing you should be focusing on while choosing a workout plan for yourself is your body type. Do you classify as an ectomorph (delicate build), mesomorph (muscular built) or an endomorph (soft/round build? Not all workout routines may be suitable for all body types. For example, an ectomorph would probably be better off following a workout routine which focuses on mass-building rather than which would help them to lose fat; they are already lean!
4: Let Your Interests Lead You:
We spoke about workout routines turning into chores and that being one of the reasons why people find it difficult to stick to them. If the thought of hitting the gym and running on the treadmill doesn’t excite you, you don’t have to do that! Why not pick something which complements your interests? For example, dancing! If you like to dance, why not try Zumba? Additionally, there are several videos where fitness trainers demonstrate excellent cardio workouts that double as stellar dance moves as well.
