How we approach our training
Our training program is based around the 80/20 running. This is the 80/20 training approach:
The 80/20 running method is a training approach that involves spending 80 percent of your training time at a low intensity and 20 percent at a moderate to high intensity. This means that most of your training runs should be at a conversational pace (low intensity), while the remaining 20 percent of your runs should be at a higher intensity, such as intervals or hill repeats.
The idea behind this approach is that by spending most of your training time at a low intensity, you can build up your aerobic base, which is essential for endurance running. This also helps to reduce the risk of injury and overtraining, as you’re not constantly pushing your body to its limits.
The remaining 20 percent of your training time at a higher intensity helps to improve your speed and fitness by pushing your body to work harder and adapt to the stress. By alternating between these two types of workouts, you can build a strong foundation for your running and achieve your goals.
Meet the coach
I am David and I am the coach of the running club. I have been in the fitness world working as a personal trainer for about 14 years and a running coach for 2 years.
My goal with this club is to build a team that enjoys the sport of running and that has a goal to achieve.
What Type Of Runner Should Join
We want to welcome all runners but we are set up for people that have some running experience and that are looking to get faster at race events.
We want runners that are looking to enjoy the social and performance side of running.
Track and Long Runs
We will do our workouts at the track on Tuesday and Friday at 6:30am. Warm up and Cool downs will be down before and after the workout.
Tuesday will usually be speed work with interval running or a combination of tempo with intervals.
Friday we will work on tempo/threshold runs.
Why Choose Us?
