We are busy these days and sometimes eating healthy gets lost in the shuffle. Building a diet that fits out busy lifestyle is key to a healthy diet. Building a diet around fruits, veggies, lean meats, whole grain and a little dairy is key to having a healthy diet.
Here’s our tips for having a healthy diet
Focus on fruits and nuts for snacks
Instead of reaching for candy or chips try eating fruits or nuts instead.
Having food that’s high in fiber will make you feel full longer and you will have an easier time with weight loss. Having more fiber in your diet also helps with GI health because the fiber bulks up your waste. An easy way to add fruits and nuts is to bring them with you in your lunch box.
Have veggies with every meal
Having veggies with every meal is a wonderful way to make sure that your diet healthy. Veggies are packed with fiber and micronutrients which your body needs for daily function. If you add fresh veggies to each meal you should be covered. Green veggies are the best.
Add protein
Everyone has heard of protein and they link it to building muscle but that’s not the only thing it’s good for. Protein has slower digestion than fats and carbs and can help make you full longer. Having more protein during a weight loss program can help you retain muscle while losing fat which will help keep the weight off longer.
Bring lunch with you
Many people go to work without lunch and this leaves them with limited choices. Bringing your lunch to work can solve this problem because it puts you in control of what you’re eating. When you make, your lunch don’t grab frozen meals that you can pop out of a box and heat up. Try bringing food that you made fresh.
Stop eating out
These days many people eat out and they eat out too much. The problem with eating out is that you’re not in control of what they’re feeding you. Many restaurants add tons of salt and oil to their food which makes your food unhealthy. If you skip restaurants you will not only save on calories but you’ll also save money.
Try an Airfryer
My wife and I got an Airfryer and we find that making healthy foods is easier. The Airfryer doesn’t have to preheat and you can cook healthy lean means without oil quickly. We find that the ability to cook quickly helps us stay on track with our healthy eating.
If you eat junk don’t sweat it
Now I am not saying to eat junk food but sometimes we do give in to something like a cookie or candy bar. When this happens a lot of us will say oh well I screwed this day up I’ll just start eating healthy tomorrow. This is the number one reason why my clients get derailed from their weight loss program. I explain to them that they should enjoy junk food once and a while but not to let it get in the way of their healthy eating. Staying on track after having a few M&Ms is key to success.
