Why your age does not matter for staying fit

What’s your age? And more importantly, how much time do you give to physical activities on a daily or weekly basis? However old or young you may be, fact is that you should always exercise at any age. Yes, you can make some changes to your workout, maybe decrease or increase the strength or play around with the reps, but you should still be sweating for around 30 to 45 minutes. And this holds true whether you are just 18 or 55.

Research states that over 33% adults do not exercise enough. But exercise is important at any age, even if you are in your 60s. Research has also found out that adults who involve themselves in physical training spend 25% reduced time in illness. Plus, their recovery times are better, and they are less prone to injuries again.

Workout does not always mean lifting heavy weights or doing an hour of cardio. If you get tired or don’t have enough stamina, you can keep it simple to a brisk walk or your favorite sports. Walking is great for your heart and memory, and keeps diseases away. In fact, it has known to increase your life by 5 years if you make it a daily practice.

Here are some tips that can help you come up with your own fitness routine, suitable for any age.

Keep moving

Keeping your muscles working is extremely important; because when they won’t function, they will lose their capabilities, especially if you are growing old. Maintaining muscular strength is more difficult with increasing age, but it is never too late to start trying. However, once you do, do it regularity.

Eat and stay healthy

Exercise is more effective when you control your diet, and indulge in healthy activities. Stay away from junk food, smoking and alcohol. Eat lots of fruits and veggies, while making sure you are taking in the recommended amounts of carbs and proteins. It’s not so easy, but if you talk to a reputed personal trainer in Fairfax, they are sure to help you out.

Don’t push yourself hard

As eager as you may be to get fit, do not push yourself even if you are young. This weakens your immune system, and you will have to spend in recovering afterwards. Start slowly, and then increase the duration and strength as you build stamina, and get used to the routine.

Make it fun

Exercise can be so much fun if you want. Do something that you enjoy such as biking, swimming or a sport. If you can find a partner, all the better.
