Advantages of Adjustable Dumbbells and Exercises For Quarantine

Quarantine has hit us hard in a way or another. Some people are too used to going out, to the point that demotivation and anxiety have become a part of their everyday life. Others worry about their health and the health of those important to them. And professional and educational careers, as well as ways of making a living, have been heavily affected.

It’s to no surprise that even health organizations have claimed how COVID-19 and its consequences around the world have actually affected the mental health of people, which also results in a neglect of physical health.

Examples are many, but I can come with some relatable examples, such as poor sleeping habits, insomnia problems, poor eating schedules, unhealthy diets, lack of motivation which leads to poor performance in activities related to work and studies, increased anxiety and depression, not taking enough sunlight which leads to a vitamin D deficiency, and of course, not exercising enough.

Being Physically and Mentally Prepared

In these difficult times, being able to bring yourself to exercise and train your body is an absolute most, as well as remembering how important it is to remain healthy, both mentally and physically.

Nowadays, people who had lead sedentary lives are now facing even less physical activities, with the home office method brought by many companies to fill in their needs. This is a good thing, actually, and I believe that understanding and studying the benefits and results of home-office methodologies is a necessary step towards progress, since many companies do not require the physical presence of their employees to be functional.

Still, although this a good thing, the bad thing is that it happened because of a really, really bad thing, which is COVID and quarantine. And during quarantine, it’s easy to not progress at all in projects or daily tasks. A lot of people are physically unstable during these times, and this directly translates to poor mental health.

How do you remain constant, disciplined, and motivated during these hard times? The answer’s hard to come by, considering that everyone’s minds work differently, but universally speaking, exercises might be one good alternative. And the best adjustable dumbbells in the UK might be able to help you if you know how to use them.

How the Body Affects the Mind

A lot of people forget that our body is literally the vessel of our mind, thoughts, and emotions. If the vessel is in bad shape, of course, what’s inside is going to stir up and cause a ruckus. In order to be much more resilient, and become emotionally and mentally stable persons, we should also work on our physical well being.

A good example of this current of thought is how we can’t seem to focus when we are absolutely tired due to poor sleeping habits, or how feeling weak because of a bad diet can hinder our performance in many aspects of our lives, and how stress can get accumulated to affect us even on our sleep.

If we manage to take care of our body in a good way, most of these problems will be dealt with. Of course, I’m not proclaiming exercise as an absolute cure to all your problems, but it is scientifically proven that doing exercies and leading healthy routines can actually help fight depression, lack of motivation, insomnia, and other problems.

The reasoning is simple: when we exercise, our body and brain produce hormones and chemicals that are similar to anti-depressants, and these compounds bring a lot of benefits to our health.

For example, when men lift weights and do exercises, they increase and balance their testosterone levels, an hormone that is linked to mental well being, protein absorption, motivation and muscle mass production. The same happens with women, just sligthly different.

Why Get Yourself Dumbbells

Advantages of Adjustable Dumbbells

It’s not absolutely necessary to own equipment to enjoy some healthy exercises and training methods. There’s a quite popular training method known as calisthenics that focuses on using your own body weight to exercise and is effective and fun in its own way.

But adding weight to your training routines and exercises is a very effective, fast way to get benefits without having to put a lot of effort and time into it. Adjustable umbbells are perfect for beginners, since you can decide the weight you want to go for based on your strenght, and them slowly rise up the difficulty as you become stronger.

They are also great because different types of exercises might require different a different weight, so changing the weight to fit the exercise you are trying to do is much easier. It also saves spaces, in comparisong to owning a whole set of dumbbells.

Now, there are a bunch of online guides online showcasing exercises using dumbbells that I recommend you to check, but there are some things you have to keep in mind.

  1. Try to not do the same exercises in a row, meaning that you should focus on different parts of your body, so you can let your muscle rest. At night, your muscles grow stronger through a recovery process, but if you don’t let them rest and keep doing the same training method everday, you’ll risk causing damage to them, so make sure to have various training routines.
  2. Make sure to add other healthy habits to your life, such as sleeping enough during nighttime, eating healthy food, or at least making eating properly.
  3. If you want to become more mentally stable, try practicing activities that focus on it, such as meditation, and mantra chanting.

Overall, exercising is something that brings benefits if you do it with discipline and consistency. So, once you’ve begun, ¡work hard and keep trying your best!
